The Things God shows me

Way out in the fields,
after a lonesomes days ride,
I wish my wife were here,
Ridin by my side,
How we'd talk and sing to God,
maybe even have a laugh,
How I'd love to watch her joy,
Over a newborn baby calf,
But as a nurse she has work to do,
As a cowboy I gots mine,
At supper we share stories and talk,
And it seems to work out fine,
Maybe one day she'll retire,
And she'll have lots of time to see,
Just what God shows me as a cowboy,
And why it means so much to me.
